LEAVING TOWN

In my public hanging, I was gallows, displayed,
Fortuitous, I had a knife with a sharp blade,
With death, I could not coupe,
So, I cut my neck rope,
I rode out of town, leading a soldier's parade.

MY TURKEY GAVE THE TOWNSHIP THE BIRD

I had the biggest turkey in the village,
So big, that they raised higher, my tax millage,
But, on turkey cook day,
The big turkey got away,
And, the town square rose bushes, it would pillage.

PUTREFIED PUMPKIN

After Halloween, my Halloween, cut pumpkin made me cry,
I was emotionally trashed, as I watched him rot and die,
So I fed him to the yard birds,
And, other backyard critter herds,
I watched them chew his face away, and I waved to him, bye, bye.

WARNING: DON'T TOUCH A DOWN ELECTRICAL WIRE WITH A RAKE

I rolled up my very long sleeves,
When I went out to rake some leaves,
Raked up under a pine,
A down electric line,
At my funeral, the wife grieves.

BEARDED IRIS IN THE SNOW

I spied a bearded iris in a sea of white snow,
I couldn't imagine what made that lovely iris grow,
The cold made me sneeze, hack and cough,
It should have killed the iris off,
Then a fawn stoped and ate it, watched over by a doe.

BRYAN THE MEAN ON HALLOWEEN

Bryan has an old Halloween soul,
He lives in a furnace with hot coal,
When it becomes Halloween,
Bryan goes out to be seen,
Scaring trick-or-treaters, his mean goal.

I GOT MY CANDY BARS, BRING ON HALLOWEEN

I bought twenty-six pounds of candy bars for my Halloween,
I'm not sharing any of them, because I'm greedy and mean,
I am no silly fool,
My candy bars, stay cool,
I don't want the chocolate ones to melt, and make a messy scene.

THE SIBLINGS GO BACK TO SCHOOL LIMERICK

Siblings Sloppy, Lazy and Careless, decided to go to school,
Sloppy, Lazy and Careless, didn't like those adults chosen to rule,
Yet, they became teacher's pets,
Learned mathematical sets,
But, were expelled when they all peed, in the just cleaned, school swimming pool.

I GOT CARRIED AWAY THIS FALL

My summer came to a fast crashing end,
I was caught in a tornado, and its rapid spin wind,
I was picked up in the air,
Pigs flew everywhere,
I woke in a distillery, my brain was so ginned .

MY NEW HOME IN THE WOODS

I was given a key for the front and the back,
But there's no doors, or doorknobs, on my lean-to shack,
There's a hanging blanket front door,
Inside, in places there's floor,
Backdoor, is old tires in a stack.

CLIFF FALLING, NOT AS SAFE AS IT LOOKS

I fell off a cliff and broke many a good bone,
Didn't hurt while I fell, that changed when I hit stone,
My mind conjured a thread,
With pics of me dead,
I woke up all stapled, and bolted, and sewn.

HO, HO, HO AND IT'S TIME TO SNOW

Such dreaded heat I can't remember,
I'm using air conditioning in late September,
But soon, ho, ho, ho,
We'll be covered with snow,
In late October or early November.

THE FALL OF MY SUMMER

My woods is dying,
My eyes are crying,
Winter's here,
Warm days are dear,
And snowflakes will be flying.

UNHAPPY HALLOWEEN

On every Halloween,
Most ghosts get really mean,
They want only candy, not hugs
They behave like real thugs,
And vampires, they're a worse scene.

A POEM FOR ALL SEASONS

When I blow snow,
Away it will go,
I might be paid doe,
To buy a me a hoe,
For the garden, you know,
To keep the weeds low,
To make pickles grow,
So my plants don't feel woe,
Next, tie my shoes with a bow,
And the lawn I must mow,
Then I'll jump in my dingy and row, row, row, row.

FALL-A LIMERICK OF DISCONTENT

I don't like fall a lot,
My garden has gone to pot,
The trees have lost every leaf,
From the cold there's no relief,
Fall means the summer is shot.

The First Frost This Fall

On this chilled, frosty morning my red car has turned white,
My bright, beautiful garden has died overnight,
I look on with despair,
Then, decide I don't really care,
I'm climbing back into my bed to sleep tight.

TOTAL MICHIGAN SEASONS : 2.1

In Michigan you don't get much fall,
Fall is hardly a season at all,
Fall is just a small splinter,
Between summer and winter,
And, the spring season we don't get at all.
