THE ROADKILL SONG

My family scrapes up roadkill all day and all night, long,

While we scrape up our sweet dinner, we sing this roadkill song,

Fur, skin, bones and the insides,

Over the asphalt it slides,

We're called awful, but since roadkill is tasty, we're not wrong.

MEAT AFFORDABILITY.

I went to buy some fresh, lean beef, but the price was just too high,

I went to buy some deli ham, but the pig price made me cry.

I wanted to buy some fresh fish,

The high price belated my wish,

I tried to buy some turkey, but my credit card said "DENY".  

SCHOOL SALISBURY STEAK OR STARVE

I went to the grocery store to buy just one pound of ground beef,

I looked at all the high beef prices, and said, "oh, good greedy grief",

I couldn't afford any meat,

I bought bananas to eat,

I told the kids to rely on school lunches, and eat, eat, eat, eat.

GRANDMA'S GOOD GRUB

Trina had a hunger urge, so she went to Lucky Street,

Trina wanted to buy some sweet candy, and dead, red meat,

The candy was old and stale,

The only meat, a pig tail,

So, Trina went on to Grandma's, who had good grub to eat.

NO JOB, NO FOOD, BUT I CAN NAP

My job went away when my corporate employer got sued,

I just went to place where the government hands out old, canned food,

There was no food today,

I walked down to the bay,

I took a long nap to get me into a more positive mood.

MONEY, BUSINESS AND MEALS

My meals consist mostly of just seeds and found bones,

When I chew the bones I make funny crunching tones,

I dream to eat stake,

But, no money, I make,

Except, by selling artwork I make from pinecones.

FOOD AND FUNGUS

My small family of four, was running out of precious food to eat,

All we had left was a can of herring, and a jar of pigs feet,

We checked with our neighbors, to the left and right,

They said their pantries, were also very lite,

Then we all joined together picking mushrooms, although they're not a meat.

NO MORE LUXURY FOODS

I use to eat chicken tacos, but I will not eat them anymore,

I can't afford chicken tacos, because of high prices at the store,

My financial recoup?

Fifty-cent ramen soup,

And, a glass of free ice water; oh my stars and garters, am I poor.

MY POVERTY AND SKINNY JEANS

The place where I live, we have little income means,

That is why we live on rice, beetle bugs and beans,

I eat a few teaspoons of food,

I've evolved; I'm a thinner dude,

I wish I had money, to buy some skinny jeans.

FEEDING POOR KIDS POE

I was so darn hungry, I started eating fresh, fallen snow,

I flavored it with weed seeds, that didn't cause me poisoning, woe,

I flavored the kid's snow with lime juice,

Told them the the snow was magic goose,

Then I read to them "The Tell Tale Heart", by Edgar Allen Poe.

I'D EAT THE DOG'S AND CATS, BUT THE NEIGHBORS BEAT ME TO THEM

Prices are way high, and I can't shop for beer,

All of the good stuff, they cannot sell it here,

Can't afford chicken legs,

Forget about any eggs,

When I see a dead rat, I call that meat dear.

TRINA AND THE WHOPPER WOOLY

Trina got some brand new, pink shoes that fit her tiny, little feet,

Mom packed Trina a sack lunch, so she could stuff her small face and eat,

Trina had a bully,

Her name, Whopper Wooly,

Trina gave Wooly her lunch each day,  to avoid a whopper, beat.

WORMS AND BUGS AND PORK AND BEANS, I SCHEMED

I have been looking for pork sausage all day,

It's pricey, and I can't cover it with my low pay,

But with worms and katydids

I'll ground sausage for the kids,

I schemed me pork and beans, but it gang aft a-gley.
