IN NATURE, SIZE MATTERS
Winter came and brought misery, misery, I am told,
It blocked the paths of all creatures, and suffered them, the cold,
Cold hurts the face, and ears, and icy little paws,
It favors those with talons, teeth and sharpened claws,
I'm a bear napping in my cave, and on that life I'm sold.

I SHOWED THE MOSS JUST WHO IS BOSS
My roof was all covered with green moss,
Some fertilizer, I gave a toss,
The moss dried up and it died,
I take belligerent pride,
In showing moss just who is the boss.

BUGS IN MY EGGS
My name is Penny, I'm A bird with a bird nest,
A bug laid eggs in my eggs; her babies ate best,
The bug flew fast, away,
I'll catch her in a day,
Her bug days are numbered, tasting bug guts, my quest.

YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU'LL NEED A BEAVER GUN
I went out canoeing this morning, and ran into a big, beaver damn,
The beaver saw me and started hissing, I saw him, and thought, Easter ham,
I did not have my beaver gun,
So I wrestled him, just for fun,
Now, I'm in his lair, feeding his babies, and missing my fiance, Pam.

APRIL DUNE
I climbed up a sand dune mountain, too early in the spring,
My bare feet went numb, and my bare fingers, ached with a sting,
A T and shorts, I wore up the hill,
They did not protect me, from the chill,
I ran down dune towards the car heater; fell and broke a wing.

BERNIE THE BEAVER, TOOTHED TREES FOR THE KING
Bernie was a big toothed beaver, and he toothed down thousands of big trees,
Bernie knew just how to fall them, checking the soil type, and the breeze,
Bernie checked wind speed and direction,
Studied soil types, for perfection,
Bernie felled his tress spot on, tight, and the king beaver, Bernie did please.

TUMBLEWEEDING TODAY
I am a tumbleweed, and I went tumbling today,
The wind pushed me along, faster than seeds, or dry hay,
I tumbled past some fence wire,
Into a blazing truck tire,
That's when I caught fire, and the wind blew me away.

THE DAM THAT BURST
When the lake dam burst, my log cabin took a rigorous swim,
Along with my sports card collection, and my pet spider, Jim,
The log cabin fell apart,
Nothing left for a restart,
No sports cards were recovered, and neither was my spider, Jim.

BEARDED IRIS IN THE SNOW
I spied a bearded iris in a sea of white snow,
I couldn't imagine what made that lovely iris grow,
The cold made me sneeze, hack and cough,
It should have killed the iris off,
Then a fawn stoped and ate it, watched over by a doe.

SQUIRREL FOOD
I shot a squirrel that was up in a tree,
I will eat squirrel meat, when I have my tea,
You know what's what's,
I found his nuts,
I will chew on his nuts, when I watch tv.

THE HILL OF THE BIG, BAD BOULDER
The enormous, big, bad boulder, came rolling down the hill,
It took out my camper, it was a total camper kill,
I had not any place to stay,
Slept in my sleep bag on hard clay,
I was in both grief and pain, but had no aspirin pill.

SPAWN, THE LIMERICK
Seven big, pretty salmon swam up the Betsy River,
Each salmon carried a package they had to deliver,
If each one gets their wish,
They will make baby fish,
Adding another DNA arrow to their quiver.

SQUIRREL PROOFED AND FREEZING
I squirrel proofed my bird feeder and made the squirrels mad,
They smashed up my solar panels, and smashed them up real bad,
Now I have no heat inside,
I'm freezing, but have my pride,
But, the birds shared the feed with the squirrels, that makes me sad.

GEORGE BUILT A TEMPLE
George built a small temple, to worship a big tree,
It was built out of the wood, called mahogany,
George worshipped a white pine,
It had needles, real fine,
George boiled the needles to make vitamin tea.

STACKS OF SNACKS PLAN, GOES AWRY
Jimbo liked his potato snack,
He bought them by the case to stack,
But, then one day,
A flood took them away,
Now, the snacks feed the critters that go "quack, quack".

MY DECOMPOSING POEM
When I was laying deep down in the ground,
Many thousands of earthworms came around,
Then the maggots hatched out,
They squirmed all about,
Soon not a trace of me was left to be found.

DEAR CAMP.TWO (Nature Does That Reckoning Thing)
I went to dear camp and I got a big scare,
My face was chewed off by an old grumpy bear,
I tried running,
But the bear wasn't funning,
He made me a scat pile of bones and red hair.

DEAD GREENS IN THE LAND CALLED ZOO.
DEAD GREENS IN ZOO MICHIGAN
My garden grew and grew,
Then it was suddenl
y through,
The frost stopped by,
Made my greens all die,
And it's June in KALAMAZOO.

THE BALLAD OF HAPPY PARKER, MAN OF THE SOUTH
Parker liked eating possum,
He baked it in his pie,
Parker liked his possum sandwiches,
On whole wheat bread, never rye,
Parker had the hiccups,
Parker had the farts,
Parker couldn't play baseball,
But was really good at darts,
Parker had a brother,
He smelled like fishy-trout,
Parker threw him in the river,
The gators ate his belly out,
Parker had six daughters,
Parker had an apple tree,
His daughters made apple wine for him,
So Parker was happy.
